This almost makes up for no Dr. Dog show.

If you haven’t heard of Rodrigo y Gabriela and you are at all interested in raw, unbelieveably talented musicians, you need to check them out ASAP. Their guitar rifts are unbelievable; it is difficult to believe that they play such mind-blowing music with only two acoustic guitars. And let me tell you from personal experience (Lollapalooza 2007), their live show is nothing sort of perfection.

Their sophmore album, 11:11, opened to great reviews and has been nominated for Best World Album at the upcoming NAACP Image Awards. Fans and critics alike have been stunned by the album, and maintain that Rodrigo y Gabriela’s live performance is one of the best around.

They will begin their North American tour on February 28th in Washington, DC, and finish up at New York’s Radio City Music Hall on April 29th. Below are the complete dates. Luckily, they will make a stop in Atlanta on March 13th at Center Stage. Get ready to have your face melted.

Dr. Dog tackles heavy issues on the album- doubt, confusion and unanswered questions- but those themes are tackled with their traditional upbeat harmonies, solid guitars and beautiful melodies. Their sound remains intact while infused with a darker tone.

The band’s past records have been created step by step, secluded, in their Philadelphia home studio. They chose to depart from this norm in order to improve and grow as they continue to create music.

I am thrilled to hear about this upcoming album, but uber-bummed to see that their 10-week Headlining Tour is without a stop in Atlanta or Athens. Below are the dates, in case you are lucky enough to be in the same place at the same time as these guys. The lack of love for Georgia is not cool Dr. Dog, but I still love you.
