Different Event Jobs And Their Metaphors

Thursday, December 8th, 2011

When we think of event jobs, the first thing that comes to mind is an event planner: baptism, wedding, birthday, concert, you name it. What we fail to see is that any event jobs actually goes beyond event planning. Like any job, this type of career requires a certain level of expertise on the given field. Events can be as small as a birthday party or as large as a corporate gathering or an advertising congress. The event can be organized by a single person, or a whole team. In a team, each person is assigned a specific task that falls under his or her own line of expertise. These people make sure that all of the pieces fall into place on the day of the event. They are also responsible for creating backup plans incase something goes wrong.

Corporations require several planners in their field. You could be assigned to handle meetings or become a travel coordinator. In this line of work, you will be exposed to different people and your organizational skills will be tested. You will be tasked to arrange schedules and itineraries to ensure that the transition from one meeting to another is smooth. Other demo jobs could be in marketing and sales. Your main task is to ensure that the sales target is met. This can be accomplished by setting client meetings to offer a deal which they could not resist. Another option is making your brand name a household name. Think of your making brand name synonymous to the type of product you are selling.
