The Soft Pack Tackles 10 Shows in 13 Hours
Most bands are exhausted after performing just one concert; on a good day, a group will perform several shows at a festival like South By Southwest. That’s not for the Soft Pack, though. It would appear they have a little bit too much stamina and a healthy dose of perseverance, as they performed 10 gigs in 13 hours to celebrate the release of their debut album.
The Soft Pack, who got their start under the moniker The Muslims, completed this unbelievable stretch of performances with the aid of a vegetable oil-fueled school bus called Greased Lightning and heaps of beer. The indie band, inspired by early punk and seventies rock n’ roll, performed at venues, houses, on beaches, and more that day, and they seem to have emerged intact. The day began at 10:30 A.M., and by the time it was over the band was a sweaty, frazzled mess.
If you think you can handle it, this seems like as good a plan as any to get the word out about your band. All you need, as it seems, is a school bus, some friends, and one hell of a determined spirit. Check out the Soft Pack at http://www.myspace.com/thesoftpack.
