Will.i.am, Slash remix classic Who song for Super Bowl

28 January 2010 No Comment

will_i_amIn addition to playing the halftime show for the XLIV Super Bowl, The Who will debut “My Generation” as a remix. Will.i.am and Slash paired up to work on the classic song. The song will be for sale on iTunes, post-game, and all proceeds will be donated to Haiti earthquake relief funds.

This will be the second Super Bowl to play a classic song remixed by Will.i.am. He collaborated with Bob Dylan last year to create a new version of “Forever Young” that debuted in a Pepsi commercial during the game.

Will.i.am told Billboard, “I altered the lyric to fit my generation now. It was awesome. I loved that song way before this even came up, and talking to Pete Townshend on the phone is like, ‘What?! I’m talking to Pete Townshend on the phone?!’ Those guys are just awesome.”

It is unknown whether the band will premiere the song during the halftime show, during a break in or in a commercial.  We’ll just have to wait and see on February 7th when the Saints take on the Colts.
