Futurebirds Take Up Residence at Tasty World
If you’re like many Athens residents, you get excited when a good band comes to town. Chances are, if it’s a local band, not to mention one that takes a residence at a downtown club, the excitement builds. There’s no doubt that townies and fratties alike will be ecstatic to hear that Athens’ own Futurebirds have taken up a residence at Tasty World Uptown until Mardi Gras.
These Athens favorites, whose hodgepodge sound has attracted followers from every point on the spectrum, are in the studio working on a new album, their full-length debut. While this might sound like a time too stressful to worry about gigging, the Futurebirds have taken quite the opposite approach, taking precious show time to treat fans to new cuts from the upcoming album and old favorites.
Don’t even think about pulling the “broke college kid” routine on this one; tickets to each gig are $3 (c’mon, that’s less than a beer), and some other groups will fill out the bill quite nicely. If you’re interested, the schedule of shows is as follows:
January 19th-Futurebirds with Jonny Corndawg
February 2nd-Futurebirds with Gift Horse (As My Bloody Valentine)
February 16th -Mardi Gras with Futurebirds and Holy Liars
See you there, Athens!
