Adam Klein and Jason Miller to Film Documentary in Mali

14 January 2010 No Comment

P1000582.JPGAthens singer/songwriter Adam Klein and filmmaker Jason Miller are heading to Mali, West Africa. Nope, they’re not going on safari; they’re headed there this February to film a documentary tentatively titled The Mande Sessions.

The documentary isn’t the only thing they’ll be working on while they’re in Mali, however. Klein will be there to record a Malian music album with some of the local participants in the West African nation’s vibrant music scene. Miller, on the other hand, will be there to capture the action on film, all of which will later be compiled for a “making of the album” film of sorts.

Klein is no stranger to Mali; he spent two years there serving in the Peace Corps, and it seems he couldn’t stay away too long. The trip will be expensive, though, so Klein and Miller have made it possible for people to contribute by donating to an organization called African Sky (indicate that the money is intended for Adam Klein on any checks). As an added incentive, all contributors will receive a credit in the film. For more information on how to donate, visit www.africansky.org.
