There are always songs that pervade everyday life, and usually a couple of them pop up every few years and get stuck in America’s collective head. Many of them are one-hit-wonders, songs that shoot their artists to the top of the charts, only to find that their next tune can’t live up to its expectations. Billboard recently named Daniel Powter’s “Bad Day” to be the cream of the one-hit crop by naming it the one-hit-wonder of the decade.

Billboard defines a one-hit-wonder as an act, group, or artist whose second song doesn’t reach the top 25 on the charts; Powter’s album “Under the Radar” was just that, placing below that cutoff and securing “Bad Day” a position in the category. Second on the list was Terror Squad with “Lean Back”, and third was Crazy Town with “Butterfly”, a song that blurred the lines between a hit and an infectious disease. Looks like Powter’s bad day will stick with him for a while.
