Touring for the Guns n’ Roses’ newest album Chinese Democracy begins in a few weeks with a few show dates in Southeast Asia and picking up in the new year, 2010, with numerous dates all over Canada. The newest update on Guns n’ Roses tour will take the band south, way south, to South America.
A nice escape from the blistering Canadian winter, the band will play about 10 shows across South America. Though specific dates are not yet set, Axel Rose’s long inactive website just recently mentioned the band’s definite …

The best gift this Christmas might just be coming from Tom Petty. He’s gathered 30 years worth of concert recordings from Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers and graciously compiled them into a disc set fittingly titled “Live Anthology.”
The rock legend —with over 26 Top- 10 singles —spent over a year working on the project and told the Associated Press “It was like looking at a photo album, but you can all be in the picture.”
The set features songs from 1978 to 2007, resulting in a four-disc set with 48 live …

Of all things, it had to become a tanning salon. When Record Express in Middletown, Conn. shut its doors, Brendan Toller was angry enough for being forced into finding a new avenue to feed his vinyl addiction. But a tanning salon? Ouch.
The synthetic sun parlor was a salt-in-the-wound symbol for every “fake” pillar of the music industry Toller thought had brought down his go-to vinyl spot.
“I really was sad and angry about it,” says Toller. “They would attribute [store closings] to digital sales and downloading, which I knew full well wasn’t true. It was corporate greed — major record labels pushing artists with little to no talent hoping to get quick sales and nothing in the long term.”
So Toller set out to prove his point.

Here’s the romantic version — the romanticized version, maybe — of the American songwriter: a scraggly, bearded dude sitting under a 60-watt light bulb at 3 a.m., ankle deep in crumpled lyric sheets, chain smoking Camel Lights and taking pulls off a lukewarm gin and tonic while penning the next big thing.
It’s perfect, poetic, striking … but it’s not Eric Earley.
“No,” laughs the songwriting brains of Portland, Ore.’s sextet sensation, Blitzen Trapper. “That’s not me.”

Catching Bob Crawford on the road is no surprise. Bassist for the hell-raising North Carolina “grungegrass” (we’ll get to that) trio The Avett Brothers, Crawford and his bandmates (brothers Seth and Scott Avett) have enjoyed a meteoric rise through the musical ranks, realized the old-school way: touring. Lots and lots of touring. Naturally, then, as Crawford speaks through the traffic noise on the other end of the line, he must be steaming toward some new musical high – Bonnaroo, MerleFest or any one of the mid-sized performing arts centers across the country they’ve come to sell out with a frightening regularity.

Her lips aren’t sealed. And we couldn’t be happier.
It has been reported by Britain’s The Sun newspaper that The Rolling Stones are planning a large world tour in 2010. The key word here is planning, because the source of the information did not come directly from a Rolling Stone member, but from guitarist Ronnie Wood’s 20-year-old girlfriend Ekaterina Ivanova.

It’s been three long years of — years filled with many a solo project from — since The Strokes released First Impression of Earth. Amidst the rumors and all the band members’ side projects, some of us were starting to worry about the future of The Strokes, but our fears are (hopefully) about to be dispelled because it sounds like The Strokes will be heading back into the studio soon.

Adam Lambert better hope his risque performance at the AMA’s was worth it, because it’s costing him a spot on at least one other stage. ABC’s “Good Morning America” was scheduled to broadcast a live performance of the American Idol runner up on Wednesday morning, but the network has cancelled his appearance in the wake of more then 1500 complaints received this week.

Country music: saving careers everyday
Power group Lady Antebellum’s Charles Kelley has made a pretty good name for himself, but Josh Kelley is taking a few tips from his brother and stepping to the other side, the more twangy side. Josh had his first hit in 2003 with “Amazing” and in 2005 experienced a Top 10 with “Only You.” Nowadays, he has become more popular for marrying actress Katherine Heigl than for his music. But he’s looking to change all that.
He’s signed with Universal Music Group and is now in the studio recording …
