Band of Brothers

For the members of newgrass quintet Packway Handle Band, the business of being a band has been a true labor of brotherly love. Most of the members grew up together. They’ve toured under the Packway moniker for nearly nine years. They’ve been on the road full-time since 2006. They even sing and play on the same microphone. But where other bands might crack under the pressure of too-much-together-time, the quintet is lucky enough to (mostly) get along, even under the most strenuous of circumstances.

Sage Francis adds indie flare to new album

He’s done it before.  Pun-intended rapper Sage Francis employed Will Oldham in 2005 to help out on the song “Sea Lion.” An unlikely duo? Perhaps. But nowadays indie rappers and rockers are slowly becoming BFFs.

The White Stripes’ songs featured in ballet

A new contemporary ballet choreographed by Wayne McGregor features music by the White Stripes.  Their music will be interpreted by an orchestra in the ballet, which is titled Chroma.

Mastodon Announce 50+ Tour Dates

Touring is an integral part of playing in a band; if your band’s going to be heard, it’s probably going to be on the road. Atlanta’s metal heroes Mastodon have taken that message to heart, but they’ve upped the ante. These hard-hitting lunatics embarked today on an international tour with over 50 dates.

Michael Jackson’s personal physician, Dr. Conrad Murray, could face up to four years in prison if he’s convicted of the one count of involuntary manslaughter he’s been charged with due to his role in the superstar’s death.

“Day N’ Night” is what one would deem a ‘played out’ song. The radio waves caught the tune in its track-repeating clutches, and it automatically reserved itself in the back catalog of great songs that were beat into our heads until we despised them.
